Collaborating on Work Packages

Smetter lets you collaborate with colleagues and workforce members. There is no need to send files back and forth by email. Office and site teams work in a shared information space and always have access to up-to-date information about Projects and Work Packages.

Shared access is available both on desktop and through the Smetter mobile app.

  • Add employees in the Project Manager field. Employees assigned as Project Managers can see all Work Package tabs. Multiple users can edit a Work Package together from different devices;
  • A Site Supervisor is assigned on the Works tab when preparing a Work Package. Assign a Site Supervisor to coordinate labor costs with crews and subcontractors. The Site Supervisor can see only the Works tab and does not have access to the other Work Package tabs. They can also view the list of materials and equipment used on the “Materials Used” tab and assign workforce members and subcontractors to individual Labor items.
  • On the Purchasing tab, you can assign a Buyer responsible for procurement for the Work Package and review the required materials together.
  • Employees can be granted access to the Schedule tab for collaborative work and purchasing planning.
  • Employees can work from a desktop computer in the office or from a mobile device at the construction site.
  • New users whom you assign as a Project Manager, Site Supervisor, or Buyer are automatically added to your Company’s Employees list;
  • Clients and Subcontractors are external users and do not have access to corporate information, the Project structure, or company data;
  • Only the employee assigned on a tab can see that tab. If no employee is assigned, they will not see it;
  • By default, no employee, including a company administrator, can see every Work Package in the company. This prevents employees from being distracted by draft Work Packages or work outside their area of responsibility. For each employee, you can configure automatic assignment to all new Work Packages or add them to all existing Work Packages. Go to Company > Employees. If you are a company administrator and want to see all Work Packages, open your Employee card and click “Add to all work packages as a Project Manager.” Also enable “Assign as a project manager” under “For new projects / work packages.”
  • To remove an employee from a specific Work Package tab, open the relevant tab, click the “Add employee” icon, and then click “Remove” next to that employee in the window that opens.

Result: less time spent preparing accurate Estimates and Schedules, fewer errors, and a complete view of the work for everyone involved.
