Working with the Client

To keep the client informed and provide interim reports in Smetter, simply give them access to the Work Packages for their Project. Smetter automatically calculates the current cost of the work and prepares Progress Payment Summaries. The client can also view progress photos and the forecast final cost of the Project.

You can configure how progress payment certificates are generated according to the terms agreed with the client
In the Client Portal, the client can view a budget-to-actual report for each Work Package and a complete payment history in My Projects
Once the work under a Work Package has been completed, you can print a work completion certificate and other documents
  • While the work is in progress, the client receives reports on the status of each Work Package. These reports appear in the Quote tab once the Work Package is moved to In Progress. Smetter uses information about completed work and purchased materials to prepare a progress payment certificate based on the client’s prices;
  • You can configure how progress payment certificates are generated according to the terms agreed with the client (1). For more information, see the Payment Certificates page;
  • The amount paid by the client and their outstanding balance are shown in the Work Package, on the Project page, and in Analytics, in the Projects and Work Packages and Detailed Progress reports;
  • In the Client Portal, the client can view a budget-to-actual report for each Work Package and a complete payment history in My Projects(2);
  • Once the work under a Work Package has been completed, you can print a work completion certificate and other documents(3). These documents are generated automatically;
  • Progress photos become available to the client as soon as they are added.

Client Outstanding Balance

You can check the client’s current outstanding balance in the following areas:

  • For a Project and its Work Packages — in the Progress Payment Summary on the Project page.
  • For an individual Work Package — in the Quote tab.
  • For all company Projects and Work Packages — in Analytics → Projects.

You can also view a forecast of all expected client payments for a Project based on its current actual cost. This information is displayed on the Project page under Expected Revenue.

Result: significantly less time is required to prepare reports and work completion certificates, while the risk of errors is reduced.
