Use an Assembly Library to add reusable Assemblies with linked material quantities to the estimate
  • Click “Libraries” (1) to open the Libraries panel on the right side of the screen;;
  • Add items or assemblies to the estimate by clicking the arrow icon (2). Items added from a library can then be adjusted manually;
  • Items added to an estimate from a library remain linked to that library. If a cost rate changes in the library, you can update it in the estimate by clicking “Update rates” in the Estimate Editor tab;
  • Switch between multiple libraries using the selector at the top (3);
  • Use search to quickly find items (4);
  • Search checks both item names and notes. Notes can be used as tags or product codes for future searches. For example, add the word “walls” to the notes for wall-related work and materials so you can quickly find those items later (5);
  • To edit a library, click “Edit library” (6);
  • Use the Assembly Library (7) to add reusable Assemblies with linked material quantities to the estimate (see Creating and Editing Assemblies);

Updating Estimate Cost Rates from Libraries

When you create an estimate using your company’s Cost Libraries, estimate items remain linked to the corresponding cost rates and receive a badge. You can update the rates in your estimate using the latest library data by clicking “Update rates”.

Update cost rates across the entire estimate.
Update cost rates for selected items.
After the update, linked items will display updated badges.
  • To view the linked cost rate for a specific estimate item, click “View linked cost rate item” (1);
  • To update the entire estimate, click “Update rates” (п.2). The Smetter will offer to create a copy with the previous rates.
  • To update only selected items, select them and click “Update prices” in the bulk actions panel at the bottom of the screen (3);
  • After the rates are updated, all items from the company’s Cost Libraries will display updated badges (4);
  • Successfully updated items receive a green badge, indicating that the item data fully matches the library.
  • If an item’s name, type, or Unit of Measure differs from the cost library, it receives a yellow badge. You can accept or reject the changes.
  • If a cost rate has been deleted from the library, the linked item receives a red badge. The Smetter will offer to unlink it from the library.
  • Items without badges are not linked to the company’s Cost or Assembly Libraries.

Result: create estimates faster using your own cost rates and reusable Assemblies, and update estimate rates using the latest data from your libraries.
